You can use a R12 compressor. Gotta drain old oil out and put new oil in. If memory serves me correct it was a bit over a tablespoon. I took a R12 and put it in my 94 (R134). Worked well over a year so far. Just drain old out and put new in, spinning it to lube it before filling it with R134.
