My rears were shot. The fronts were good still.

Interesting... we're starting to see a pattern here.

Here is an even better question;

Why are most owners so quick to accepts expensive custom solutions?

There have been many millions of autos produced in the last 50 years. There is bound to be a strut cartridge that is very similar in size and damping that can be easily adapted to the SVX (front or rear).

Please submit your data into that strut poll. It is valuable information to be captured.

Re: OEM struts. Options?

I recall reading that a stock front sti strut should fit the rear of our car, maybe with slight modification.

Has anyone any info on that?

I read this thread. I was astonished at the prices in two different ways.

There just simply isn't. OT has been looking around for many, many, many years.

And why, because OEM's are still going to run $600+ since the top mounts need to be replaced at the same time at this point with these aging cars. Why not double the money and spend it on an improvement over stock.

The most complete and informational thread I've found about STI struts is this one. It actually looks pretty simple. I do think this is the future for strut options as someday, all other options will likely be extinct.

I suppose that is one way to look at it. I don't see any feedback on the custom units as being superior (of course I could have missed it) so I guess improvement is relative. I can see where the STi units would be suitable.

I don't doubt that there has been effort to find a replacement. This thread is evidence of that.

I guess what I need to do is convince someone to send me a couple of dead cartridges (one front, one rear). I don't really want to disassemble my car just to get dimensions.

Re: OEM struts. Options?

Surely the simple solution to the top mount is to get them made with the correct spacing?
It's not a hard job for a machine shop to make from billet ali and would save drilling holes in the turrets which after time ARE GOING to crack between the bolt holes.

Impreza rally struts come in longer lengths to give better ground clearance and an unlimited amount of spring rates.

It's a very viable route to look at with a little more digging around could be a good alternative.

Well done on taking the leap of faith!

Whaaaa whaaaa you freaking moron who is obviously too dumb to step around the turd in front of him. Maybe you should listen to the countless others who tell him to watch his step because it is a turd.

Do yourself a favor and buy yourself some struts that make great turd holders....at least when you shove them up your a$$.

Re: OEM struts. Options?

Has anyone seen this japan site, selling coilovers for svx for $4,168.23 says wholesale also available, contact us for more info. If these work, we would have to buy a couple hundred sets to make them affordable.

Re: OEM struts. Options?

Aragosta are a Belgium company and it would be cheaper to go direct than through an agent in Japan.

I have used there products in motorsport a few years ago and had no problems at all, not cheap but a reliable and trusted brand.

If you want to pay for shipping I could send you a front and rear or even a full set.
I have 2 sets that I am not using I figured anyone that planed to go the koni route may want some so they did not have their car down while they got the struts done.
if anyone does want them you pay shipping and they are yours.
