Reading 14, Dinner discussion

We are looking looking at our options for dinner for the next meet. For the past two years this has happened at the last minute, so we'd like to get things organised better for this year. Ideally we would like to make it appealing to the widest number of members, but at the same time I realize that no matter where we have it, some will choose to cross the lot for McD's. At this point there will probably be two dinner plans.

Friday night dinner; less formal, maybe involving a scenic drive, later with more of an open "end time".

Saturday night; more organised, direct drive, earlier to get back to the Hotel for Prizes/Raffles.

A few of the options we're looking at right now;
- Yoder's, New Holland
- Heritage, Morgantown
- Holiday Inn, Morgantown
- Cafe 110, Morgantown

How important are the following factors?
- Distance; Maximum 5, 10 or 20 minutes??
- Cost; $10, $20, $30?
- Booze; Serves, BYOB, Dry?
- Selection; Limited menu, Buffet?
- Logistics; Pre-purchased tickets or go as you please?

Does anyone know of someplace within about 20 minutes of the hotel that we should look at. If you have any thoughts let us know.

Re: Reading 14, Dinner discussion

We can't have a grill on the grounds of Holiday Inn. It was asked years ago.

IMO, having meal options from $10-20 would be ideal. Drive time of 20 minutes isn't a problem. BYOB is always nice and I think a limited menu isn't a bad idea as long as those with certain "beliefs" have options. A buffet wouldn't be bad either.

I believe it was the Heritage we ended up at for Reading 12. Their selection was good, prices were great and the service was great. They get my vote but I'm always willing to try new places.

I liked the place that we went for dinner that is just up the road. I forget what that was called though.

I'm flexable

There has to be a state park nearby we could have a grill at.

Are all PA state parks dry? In NY, some are dry and some are not.

Dave,
Great to get a jump on things .....
re Friday and Sat night, good ideas there, especially with the idea of a "direct drive".
re where for dinner - always liked the Cafe 110. Great food, good service and a very relaxed atmosphere. The only problem is the separate rooms. It would be nice if we could all be together ...
re distance, 20 to 30 minutes.
re cost, $20 to $25
re booze, beer at least.
re selection, I like a buffet
re logistics, I would suggest pay-as-you-go. Very difficult to coordinate otherwise .....

As for another place to dine, does anyone know anything about that place up on the hill in sight of the hotel? You go out to the main road from the hotel and take a left and about a mile down on the left up the hill is where it is located ....
My 2 cents ....

I think that is the Heritage Restaurant and Lounge. Many of us have eaten there at past Readings and it is on the list to be considered.

I thought the food was very good and affordable.
