Re: Camshafts for the EG33.

Installed the cams into my 2nd engine today as I wasn't sure if they'd work or not and wasn't I pleasantly suprised.

So then took the car for a drive without the turbo attaced and it felt turbo charged. Heaps of torque everywhere, pulled like a train NA mode and sounded like one sexy hot dam Porsche... I'd say mission successful. Add turbo = change of pants lol.

Bazza,

What are you running for exhaust manifolding in this video, since you don't have the turbo hooked up? I'd love to see the Hp/Tq plot!!

Nice job!

Was wondering the exact same thing. No exhaust at all?

It was installed just not attached if that makes sense. So just blowing hot air with none of the intercooler connected etc. might connect it up this arvo and give it a hit of boost. New rev limit will be 8000 rpm.

I live 450 kms from my dyno... Bit hard to get plots so I just hit the track instead.

Re: Camshafts for the EG33.

^^

Although sorry, forgot about something - Tony's engine dyno will be up and running very shortly. We will have stock cam setup and my new cam setup in NA mode. Then we'll also do the turbo stuff.

Today - rev limiter around 8,000 rpm - had no issues hitting it haha.

Do you mean you had the exhaust spinning the turbo w/o any restriction in the compressor discharge?

If so, I wonder what the turbo rpm level was at full song...?

Maybe I misunderstood something.

Kind regards,

Tapani

Yeap. They can run 110,000 rpm flat out before over spinning but that's with 30-40 psi boost powering the engine creating massive gas flow to power the turbo up there. With quite low exhaust flow mine would've been lowish rpm I'd imagine. Why do you ask?

I always thought the shaft would over rev w/o any discharge resistance with a fraction of the N/A exhaust flow.

Did you jam the WG fully open?

Kind regards,

Tapani

I'm simply interested in posting up information about cams and sharing this other members.

If you're not interested in discussing the cams and simply want to discuss what might or might not be occurring to my turbo in the most obscure and irrelevant situation then please post up another thread.

Re: Camshafts for the EG33.

For anyone who is interested, pls find attached a trend of a set of parameters from my 2006 3.0R. The intake cam timing strategy @WOT is well illustrated.

The log was done maybe 10 miles after an ECU reset.
