Stage 1 shift kit?

So I have what I suppose is the stage 1 shift kit which was installed by the previous owner. I have a hose running from a tee fitting on the top passenger side of engine which connects behind the battery to transmission dropping resistor. What exactly is this thing doing/or not doing for my car?

Re: Stage 1 shift kit?

Sounds like the smallcar shift kit. It's pretty much useless. Supposed to firm up shifts but it really doesn't do much. Better to get either Harvey's Quick change shift kit or ECUtune's TCU if you are interested in better shifting.

Re: Stage 1 shift kit?

I was asking because I was interested in getting ECUtune's TCU. After I get the thing started first of course.

Re: Stage 1 shift kit?

Yeah, that's the smallcar kit. I wouldn't say it's useless. But it didn't help me a LOT.

Now I run a ECUtune TCU and valve body and I have the quickest shifting tranny this side of a Dual clutch 'box.

Re: Stage 1 shift kit?

Sounds like this will be a good mod for me in the near future. While I'm at it Nevin, what are the chances of me getting one of those world famous swaybars that you fabricate oh-so well?

Re: Stage 1 shift kit?

Will, I'll probably see if people are interested again after the first of the year. Everyone's still hurtin' from holiday spending, so I'll wait a few weeks and see what people think. I'll probably do 10 again this time.

Re: Stage 1 shift kit?

Sounds good to me. I'm still recovering myself from the holidays. Whenever the next round comes about, I will be #1 on the list please.
