Re: How much 'global warming' do YOU have to shovel tonite?

Still snowing in Westminster, MD. Don't have the exact totals yet but between the two storms, both my upper deck and lower deck look like this.

For reference, the top of my railing measures 43" from the deck floor.

We won't even talk about the Polo tucked safely in the garage behing drifts almost 6 feet high. Took almost 5 hours to get the snow away from the garage so the Outback could get out.

And another one is projected for Sunday/Monday of 6"-10"

This storm has been referred to as

What gets me is how the sort of snow has crippled these places. This amount of snow in the lake effect area just means you need to get up a little earlier to clean off your car.

I disagree. I bet most anywhere would have trouble with this stuff.

Yeah I got up around 5:30 Tuesday am for work and am just getting home now at 10:45 Thursday am. The key difference is places with heavy annual snowfall are designed for it. Their corners take more, their shoulders are back further.

Besides Mike, I'm quite sure that you don't own a vehicle that would have been visable in some of the places I spent my last few days. Hell, I don't think you standing up would have been visable as it was up to the window in my f-350.

Had the Chevy 2500 until the weight of the snow twisted the driveshaft until it broke.

Then again, I had no trouble taking the Jag out last evening for a little spin.

Thanks to Subaru, I have been ON TIME and ready at the beginning of my shift EVERY day this week!
One day, I busted through 30 inches, 150 ft UPHILL on a 7% grade with the Outback! I had to shovel away from the car so I could open the door, but it came out and hauled co-workers in too!

Praise Subaru!!

We had a bus that came back with both sides pushed in because the piles were too close to the corners. Boss shut down the next day.
City took a Bobcat out and shoved them back.

I fully agree that the Subarus are great vehicles in the snow, but I have seen it where the depth was to much for previously owned Outback and Forester. Neither of these is as good as my Ford F150 4X4 in the snow.

Sorry--just not in the same league for really deep snow or rough conditions. (just for reference again in case forgotten--I have owned 14 Subarus--so you know I like them)

I have 'overkill' too. I am just saying that I have not needed the 'overkill' to get-er-done! I have chains to put on the GMC,
I WILL 'attend' WORK if I have to strap on cross country skis!
So far, an Outback is all that I have needed.
I have a F-350 if the GMC won't do it, if the Outback won't do it, etc.

I also have chains that fit the Outback.

23 years later, the boss KNOWS that I WILL be there!
There have been days when the only tracks on our parking lot were Subaru induced!

Get ready, Shark! Weather guessers just cussed at us. Something like 7 inches tomorrow,(monday) and more monday night.
I just moved 20 inches of left overs from in front of the GMC so I can go get coal in the AM.

I remembered where I put the tire chains for GMC. I was cleaning out the bed, so I threw them on the ground next to the telephone pole near the shop. This is the same pole that I shoveled all the snow next to when I dug out the Outback!! Grumble! They are down about 5'..
They can STAY there too!

I ruined a perfectly good Chiropractor visit with my orange shovel.

Having both diesel Chevy 2500 and Ford 250 and 350s at work I think my SVX was better in the snow then either of them are (at least until you get into low 4wd) I know my old high low 4wd brat would dust either of them in snow. Biggest problem I've found with Subies is their lack of a wide track so if you're driving when only big trucks have been out you float back and forth between their tracks which is not the most settlng experience.

Looks like I'll be enjoying tonights couple of inches from the confort of my couch as a skiing incident has left me wishing I had double hernia surgery. It would be less painful then my lumbar sprain. I know I could still ski though. I just can't get there.

i feel great today.

good exercise, though. i got hammer and crowbar to remove the 4" of solid ice that had built up on one of the bedroom widow sills and was causing a slow drip from the window frame down the inside wall. there was about a gallon of water pooled up between the ice and window!

the LGT has been a beast in the snow, but my mudflaps are loose from the deep stuff.

Got my coal on the truck and it STARTED while I was driving home! It wasn't supposed to hit till 1 or 2 today.
When I got to the coal yard this AM, the guy said that they had to really DIG to get this coal out. (Of the snow).
I told him that I had to really dig to get that 2wd truck out too.

Scanner going nutz with all the wrecks, etc..
