Cracked Windshield

I've got a crack thats about 2inch long on my 94's windshield. Is this possibly able to be fixed? Anyone got one for sale or know a good place near me? I'm from Ellsworth, Maine.

Re: Cracked Windshield

Or you can just DIY with one of this products:

http://autorepair.about.com/od/fixit...dsh-repair.htm

Or this:

http://www.amazon.com/Fix-Flat-Winds.../dp/B000EA5WLS

Good luck.

Re: Cracked Windshield

Get a pro to fix it. Usually anything less than a dollar bill can be repaired.

Re: Cracked Windshield

Thanks guys!

I think i'll try getting a DIY kit first, before i drop a bill on a pro doing it. I can get that same DIY at a local VIP for like 15 bucks, so I'm going to try that today. From what I'm reading though, it's more meant for chips, than cracks. I'll post again soon.

They actually hate doing stuff for free. I hear them complain all the time at work. I got mine repaired for $60 but it is a tiny crack smaller than a dime.

Re: Cracked Windshield

Sorry about posting again about this so late, but i wasn't quite sure until recently. Here's what happened with me, hopefully it'll save someone else some time and money.

I didn't find a good enough kit locally, so then i went to a Novus to have them do it. That didn't work either (well it did for awhile, then eventually started to spread again).

When i went to have it done at Novus, the length was about 4.5-5 inches with a single impact point the size for the back end of a push pin (maybe 1-2mm). and was going only in one diminsion, vertically up the windshield (but kinda wavy), originating from a bout 3 inches up and over from the lower left corner of the windshield when inside the vehicle (drivers side). Hopefully someone else will be able to save money by not trying the above when the damage is as described, it'll be a waste of money.

True... A careful check of your insurance policy should reveal that it covers more than a windshield. Additional observation would reveal a way to save on the premium and cancel the part that takes care of glass. So you got me on that one.

I have to change my story now... I had a windshield replaced last week to the tune of $1200 but since I didn't have to pay anything, I was thinking it was free.
Good night! zzzzzzzzz
Is bed time...

Who did the work, and are you happy with the workmanship? I need to replace a windshield soon, so, just asking about your experience.

Yes, I paid my insurance premium, so my insurance can pay for replacement

Re: Cracked Windshield

Since I bought my first SVX in 1992, I've gone through 5 windshields. Here in Canada, they go for between $2200.00 and the last one was $2600.00. I had to pay $100.00 deductible they paid the rest. My insurance has never gone up...actually it's gone down in the past few years, even with upgrading to a 1996. For comprehensive claims they do not count against you, like in an accident. So the first sign of a crack I get a new one.

Since you have a black 96 with a beige interior, you have the bronze glass all the way around, including the windshield.

According to many reliable Subaru sources, the total supply of bronze SVX windshields on the planet has been depleted. The only ones left (and there aren't many of those) are green.
