Subaru world record July 11 in Chicago area

Forgive me if this is a repost, but I checked the first 4 pages here and didn't see anything.

We definitely need some SVX representation at this event!

Help us set a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ record!

Subaru of America, in participation with the Village of Itasca, will attempt to set a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ record for the “Largest Parade of Subaru Cars” in the world on July 11, 2009.

The opportunity to be part of this historic event is open to all Subaru owners. Participants are welcome to decorate their cars (not required), bring family and friends, and even your pet to ride in your Subaru during the parade. We will have an official adjudicator from GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ to observe and confirm this record.

In addition to setting a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ record, Subaru Great Lakes Region will make a donation of $15 per Subaru that participates in the parade to two great organizations. The total donation will be shared equally between PAWS Chicago and Salute, Inc. For more information on these groups, click on the logos to the left or visit www.pawschicago.org and www.saluteinc.org.

Event Date: Saturday, July 11, 2009
Event Time: 8:00 a.m. participant check-in
(rain or shine)
Register by: Wednesday, July 8, 2009
(advanced registration required, open to the first 500 cars/drivers registered)

Following this exciting event, participants are welcome to attend Itasca Fest. This fest includes live entertainment, carnival rides, food, bingo, kids’ entertainment, a three-on-three basketball tournament, and NASA’s “Journey to Tomorrow” exhibit. For more information click on the Village of Itasca link to the left or visit www.itasca.com.

Participants are also eligible to receive a special event room rate of $89 per night* at The Westin Chicago Northwest hotel. For your convenience, this four-star, four-diamond hotel is located within walking distance from the start of the parade. To make your reservation, simply click on the Westin Hotels and Resorts logo to the left.

There was another thread in the "Upcoming Meets" area, started last week...
Subaru Parade
I missed that one, so I don't think a little extra publicity is bad.

Yeah really! I just got this in an email from Subaru an hour before I posted it.

In the fine print I did notice registration was limited to the "first 500 cars" and that pre-registration was required, so in reality they are probably expecting to fill their number from fairly local cars.

I could be wrong though, Subarus may not be as common in the Midwest. In WA you can see 500 Subarus in a long commute.

Re: Subaru world record July 11 in Chicago area

I dunno... I see at least a dozen everyday, here in Iowa... but almost all of them are Foresters, Outbacks, and an impreza or two. Not very many of the "enthusiast-grade" Subarus, mostly the more utilitarian, everyday sort of Subaru.

I have seen one dark teal SVX, and a 2.5i, as well as 1 2007 Legacy GT Spec B, aside from my 2005 Legacy GT. Add a 1992 Claret SVX to that mix.

I followed a ~1992 era Legacy earlier. Not as many of those on the road anymore, but I still see one once in a while.

1992 Claret SVX. Rescued from certain destruction, and still on the road, where it belongs. Waiting for a bit of a makeover, when I can afford it.
2005 Garnet Red Pearl Legacy GT Limited 5-speed. - The late great Subaru sport touring sedan.
1999 Classic Red Miata, Preferred equipment package 5-speed. Fun, fun, fun, in the Sun, sun, sun.
