Acceleration shudder

I read prior posts and someone mentioned CV axles. When I step on the gas and get to about 10-15 mph, the car shudders for about 1 second and then it goes away....... and it gets worse the harder I step on the gas. The shuddering is felt thru the whole car. All fluids are full and clean, and the engine still revs and pulls smooth so the shuddering is not engine related. Is something binding perhaps? Is there any possibility besides the CV axle?

Re: Acceleration shudder

When my daughter's 92 was doing this, it turned out to be the front U-joint on the drive shaft for the rear diff. Young Tom at All We'll Drive replaced just the U-joint for less than $100 IIRC. The U-joint is staked in, and not available from Subaru. I think YT got the joint from Advance Auto.

Re: Acceleration shudder

Hmmm. I have the same problem, only I took what I thought were the necessary steps to fix it. On initial acceleration (particularly when going uphill) the car shudders for a few seconds, then smooths out. The vibration, though felt throughout the entire car, seems to originate from the front passenger side. I knew that the front axle on that side needed replacement (boot was torn), so today, I had it and the driver's side front axle replaced as well. Didn't change a thing...
Still shakes upon acceleration under load.

Anybody have any ideas? I'm not real happy at the moment - this cannot be good for the car.
Thanks.

Darryl
