Any Tips on removing Drivers seat

Hey everyone, I've read that how-to on removing the driver's but it was more focused on the material rather than removing the seat.

Can anyone help me out with this?

What's easiest, just the track, or removing with the track?

I'm going to do a bit of sewing and also fixing the front height motor because it's seized

Any tips would be helpful against me not knowing whether everything's gonna spring out all over the place.

Thanks, Jordan.

Take it out with the tracks. Five 14mm bolts, disconnect the electrical connections and out she comes. I'm doing that later this morning.

Re: Any Tips on removing Drivers seat

Todd is correct, just remove the five 14mm bolts.

If your seat is electric then don't remove the cable before you take out the bolts. You will need to be able to get the seat back for access to the two front bolts.
[Or move it forward to access the back bolts if you are as long limbed as Todd ]

Be careful lifting it out that you don't damage the door surround plastics with the flanged feet for bolting the runners down; they have sharp edges and will be protruding as you lift the fairly heavy seat.

Re: Any Tips on removing Drivers seat

Hey thanks a lot for your help guys.

I can't imagine where the 5th bolt would be, just gotta have a look.

I think I have this under wraps.

Has anybody tried fixing any seized electric seat runners??

I've had a little peak underneath and it's looking a little corroded but I think it can all be fixed.

Jordan.

Re: Any Tips on removing Drivers seat

Jordan I think I remember there are two studs in the rear runner next the transmission tunnel. The others have just one.

Unless you have burnt out a motor it should be easy to get it freed up. Use a fine wire or bronze brush on the screw threaded bars. Or a skein of wire wool would work either.

Clean all corrosion from the runner track. It needs to be shiny clean to keep the strain off the motor, even though the screw threads of the worm drives are low geared. Put loads of grease on everything, but ensure grease is brushed onto all moving/sliding parts, use a small paintbrush or such like. You don't want blobs of excess grease dropping to your carpet when the seat is electrically moved back or forward, best to avoid soiling.

You can see pictures of the seat frame stripped in my locker here:

Re: Any Tips on removing Drivers seat

Wow, those pictures are great, thanks a lot mate.

My lights dim when I hit the height up or down button for the very front knee motor, but I don't think that's any indication on whether it's seized or burnt.

Jordan.
