Re: Quick Change Update.

Budfreak installed a QC today and its great. fast and nice hard shifts. but when driving normally its smooth. Shifts are instant at fast speeds and doesnt hurt the tranny at all.

Thank you Harvey and yay budfreak for the install

Good for you.

Don't slip the clutch too hard.

Harvey.

I would't dare the forces of evil by putting DUMP in caps.

The next thing, it will dump it right out the bottom,.

Harvey.

Now who gave you that Idea???????

Probably the same person that makes quotes like this:

".(Yes, Subaru uses torque control in their new transmissions for the same reason they did in ours, safety of transmission internals)"

Here we are being told that, Subaru with all their experience and wisdom, in searching for a new trans for the FOUR CYLINDER cars, have used a box that is so frail and brittle, that they have to turn the engine torque down, for fear of breaking it.

I think this is pushing it beyond what is believable. Except for people like you that don't have a brain of their own.

Subaru are doing this for the same reason that the SVX has it. To get that Smooooth Sooooft change.
It is like a virus spreading down through models. Gone is the sporty auto shift that autos always had.

Except for those fitted with a Quick Change.

Harvey.
Harvey, I have done nothing but refered to Subaru literature that states the function of torque control. You have made your own assumptions. And maybe you haven't noticed that the 6 cyl. models with oh 30% more rotational mass are the ones equipped with torque control?

I have ridden in a car with the Q/C. Honestly, it was extremely uncomfortable how the car lurched during shifts. Not to mention that the owner had already documented that the gains were much less significant in 1/4 mile times than what you have sworn by.

So when you finally decide to accept the simple fact that poweredx2's diff blew on the 1-2 shift and Wannarace928 no longer has AWD in her car because of this unit, Maybe you will understand why I ask you to describe it as a performance item and stop trying to push it as something for everyone.

Tom

My car doesn't have AWD???

My AWD works just fine. I just took my car out the other morning when we had enough snow to make things slippery and had a bit of fun. Plus had to show a saturn how awesome a car with AWD can be in the rain.

when OT drove your car when you were having fuel pump issues, he had noticed excessive wheel spin... Has this since changed?

Re: Quick Change Update.

Now, I will add my $.02.

I drive her car now on an almost daily basis and her AWD works perfectly fine. The only time the wheels spin is when my ass is drifting the damned thing around a corner and even then it sticks to the road pretty hard. This is with and without the POWER light actuated.

I would be curious how you formed your opinion Tom, considering you've never driven her car nor ridden in it. Are you basing this tidbit of information on your end from 3rd party heresy?
