Bolt size for front license plate holder???

OK this seems like a no-brainer but it's driving me nuts. I got a front license plate holder from Subaruparts.com. It came with everything needed - except the bolts that attach the thing to the front bumper (2 of them). I've tried all of my spare Subaru bolts - and I have a pile of them - but they're all too big or too small.
Does anyone know the specs of these bolts (maybe even a P/N?) - or have a couple spare one lying around?

Re: Bolt size for front license plate holder???

All the new cars I've put the holders on, the bolt holes are just little dimples in the bumper that you drill out and then add some screws, but the SVX is probably different. License plate bolts that are machine thread seem to be pretty standard among Japanese cars, I have two boxes in my toolbox, one machine thread and one sheet metal thread that I use for everything.

Yes - I know what you mean, and yes of course the SVX is different

I'll probably end up getting a grab bag from Lowe's or something.

My SVXii have standard nylon inserts that take standard license-plate screws, available at WalMart, CSK, NAPA, et al.

Re: Bolt size for front license plate holder???

I've only had the plate off my SVX once so I'm not too familiar with it lol

The bolts I'm referring to are the ones that attach the license plate holder itself to the vehicle, not the ones that attach the plate to the holder.

Re: Bolt size for front license plate holder???

At this point I don't know what I said!

There are metal nuts just inside the bumper that they attach to. I'd love to just take one out and bring it to the hardware store to find a match but it looke like I would have to remove the bumper to do that.
