Transmission Brake Band Adjustment

I searched the forums, and all I got was a bunch of threads talking about it, but none actually on how to do it. As far as I can tell, it's somewhere by the starter. Can someone link me to the thread, and then possibly sticky it? Since, you know, our transmissions are garbage.

Re: Transmission Brake Band Adjustment

Click the link and check the last page. My band is "wide" according to the description, so I'd have to tighten it to fix my problem. I'm going to go get the fluid changed and then do this myself when I have a morning off this week.

I do have questions for those that've done this;

From what I understand, I have to first loosen the lock nut, then do the adjuster? And how do I know which way I'm suppossed to turn it. Also, how am I suppossed to measure the tq'ing specs? I know that sounds really noobish of me, but I've always just tightened to the point that it's tight, although I don't think I want to try such a procedure with the transmission.

1) Yes. You have to hold the adjuster still while loostening the lock nut.
2) You said that as you understand it, you have to tighten it. Turn the adjuster clockwise.
3)Years of experience, or remove the transmission so that you can measure it.
You are in New Jersey.
You could always bring it to YT.

As mysvxrocks says, I am referred to as Old Tom, and TomsSVX is referred to as Young Tom.
YT has a shop in New Jersey and is one of the best couple of SVX mechanics in the country.
I would trust him to work on any SVX out there.

Even mine,,,

on race day!
