Starts, but then dies

My Pearlie doesn't like the cold. And it's cold about 7-8 months out if the year where I live. Anywho, It starts right up but then dies while the "power" light is on and its sputtering. Now after the second start its always fine. I just hate having to crank her over twice when its cold! I have a new fuel and air filter and just put some injector cleaner in but it still acts the same way.

Thanks

Nope, I did not check those cause how in the hell do you even get to them? Would you just suggest getting the plugs changed?

They can be difficult specially the driver side but take a good look in side and they are on the side they each a coil going off of them. There is a how-to doc. that explains how to change spark plugs and if you look at that it will answer your questions.

Also I can't imagine changing the plugs to be a bad thing as it probably could use it. I know I need to do mine but I am dreading it ;_;

Strange that the problem goes away after a restart. How long has it been doing this? But I would agree that you should check the coils. What's the mileage?

Plugs and coils are NOT hard to remove on the SVX. You just need the right tools... I have two words for you that will save you hours & hours. You'll never have to remove the wheel, for the plugs, again... GEAR RATCHET

here's what it looks like..http://www.amazon.com/Ratchet-Set-Ge.../dp/B000FKLXSS

The sockets slide into the ratchet handle making it the most low profile ratchet I've ever used. YOu can remove all coils in under 5 minutes. For the plugs you just need the right combination of ratchet extensions, 1", 2", 3" etc. And a spark plug socket with rubber inside the socket to hold onto the plug once it's loose (or cut some 3/8" heater hose on stick it in your socket).

155k and I just got the car like a month ago. It really likes to do it when its cold and sat for a couple of days. Its not my daily driver.

Thanks, and do you know how much the coils cost?

The coils are around $60-$80 new. They are sold here used in the for sale forum. You could also probably find someone here that would loan you one. Personally I'd buy just one good used one (the one with the longest cord) and try switches them out, one at a time.

I'd also check and/or replace the plugs as suggested below. It's a cheap way to start your troubleshooting. Good luck!...And get some good tools!
