fuel pressure regulator

im not sure if its good or not but i took the vacum line off it and it didnt do a thing but make the engine idle higher, still ran like crap?? is this vacum line really even needed??

If it works like most I have run across, yes you do.
At idle there is a vacuum on the regulator, it leans it out and also reduces fuel when in higher vacuum situations such as part throttle cruising.
It will hurt fuel economy, potentially foul plugs, and mess with your AFR.

well if my symptoms stayed the same with the vacum line off could it be that my regulator is bad??
