options

You really have a few options...
I will start from the most productive, LOL
~buy a parts car (more stuff will break)
~go to a parts yard (fancy for junk yard) saves you $$$ and could be a nice one there if you know what to look for.
~go to a dealer, you know it is the exact part, but pricy as all hell
~I would start here, but I dont know if you drive stick, but the WRX 5spd swap has all the good parts of the WRX (aftermarket stuff) and the fact that it is more common if it breaks!

As for an aftermarket for our car, LOL

Hope that kinda gave you some thoughts about what to do...

you don't need a parts car and you don't need to go to a dealer. Search Nasioc and ebay for stock flywheels and lightened flywheels. You will come up with lots of results.

I think 20" wheels would look fly on an autotranny SVX.

Seriously though, any aftermarket WRX flywheel should do (if your SVX has been converted to a manual trans). Or did you mean an aftermarket torque converter (Like ProTorque)?

Automatics don't have a flywheel.

There is a flex plate attached to the engine, and then a torque converter going to the transmission.

Nomad,

A car that has a manual transmission has a flywheel. A car that has an automatic transmission has a torque converter. They are totally different. There are no aftermarket flywheels for the SVX because an SVX has a 4EAT (automatic) transmission.

The 4EAT stands for 4-Four Speed, E-Electronic, A - Automatic, T - Transmission. Protorque torque converters can modify your stock torque converter to raise your stall speed for racing applications. What this means is when you suddenly floor your SVX, instead of the rpm needle jumping to 2000rpm suddenly, it can jump to a new stall speed (like 3500rpm for example). So you can take off faster but this modification heats up your tranny and transmission fluid. Most people on this board do not do this modification.

Others have converted their 4EAT SVX to a manual tranny SVX (Ex: Huck). In this case, you will then have a flywheel. If you got this done, you will have flywheel upgrades available to choose from.

BTW: What sound are you referring too? Does your transmission sound like it is cracked (Referring to your first posts)?
