Maybe not personally, but it will become more accepted and less hated. That was the pattern for the last redo, and I'm anticipating the same.

It's not bad, but that's as far as I'll go.

It looks like a cross between a Tribeca, a Corolla and a BMW 1 series. The 1 series would look ugly in a group of ugly cars, so that's not meant as a compliment.

The JDM market seemed to like the older model WRX wagon. Maybe that is why they are going this road.

A lot can be forgiven if it goes quick and handles well.

Agreed Dan.

The classic CG8 is universally liked. The bodywork had good style and good balance. Look at all the cars that have graduated to Classic status over time. The vast majority have style, charisma and correct proportions.

This thing is bulbous. Hard to see people dreaming about owning one. Now, or in the future.

I think Mitsu might steal the sales race this time around. The EVO does look alot more menacing.

Correct. The Recaros are only an option in Japan. The bottom seats are the standard seats for the US...

so does the new STi come with an SMG tranny? i thought i heard something about not until 2010?

its what eventually made me buy the LGT over the STI (creeping stop-n-go traffic on commute, wife refuses to drive stick..... and me scared about clutch abuse even if she would!

If the two models are equal in most things, including price, the buying public will normally buy the one that they feel makes them look good. So in theory the butt-ugly car will get less sales.

I also think that people voting with their wallets and their feet is the correct punishment for manufacturers who make ugly cars.

There is just no excuse for it.

How about a simple mod like this I did in photoshop to eleminate that "Smiley" grill...gives it a much more menacing look....

doesn't seem to fit well with the other curves it has.

I disagree. That interior pic looks extremely cheap - due to the large expanse of plastic dashboard. The STi interor looks much better imho...that's one area which Subaru has done well. In the exterior styling dept, the nod goes to the Evo though...

FWIW, the new STI will be lighter than the outgoing model and is supposed to be rated at 320hp/320tq (i.e. less weight & more power).
