Question Glove box issue.. Help..

As mentioned in another thread. I just got my first SVX. I'm trying to figure out how to go about getting my glove box opened. It seems that the previous owner locked it. Now I can't open it. I would like to see if the manual is in there. I did manage to find 2 more ignition keys. Including the original grey unused key. However, they don't seem to open the glove box either. Any suggestions. Would I be able to call or go to the dealership and get the key for the glove box? Is there a seperate key? Or will I need a lock-smith? Help

Thanks again
Carlos

The lock might be broke. As far as I know, the ignition key opens the glove box.

The ignition key should work unless they had the car re-keyed. I would oil the lock and try it again. The valet key will not open the glove box, so I would suggest getting a new key that is made by the dealership by your VIN. This should be the proper key to open it. You could compare the key number on the key you have now with the one they look up. Good luck.

It looks like a pretty simple lock. Have a go at picking it.

Google for "Lockpicking".

Is it only the glove compartment you can't open?

Try the doors & trunk if you haven't already. If everything else matches then someone must have replaced the glove box door.

Thanks to everyone that has responded to my thread. The car seems to be all original. I did use the key on the drivers door and trunk with no problem. I have noticed that a few things were kind of stuck from not being used. Like the sunroof didn't want to pop up and the auto window has to be pressed down hard for it to go down.. Maybe the glove box lock needs some wd40 sprayed into it.. Very carefully of course.. lol.. I will try the wd40 on Friday. Will give update.. Thanks again.

Got it opened. Looks like there is something wrong with the lock assembly.
Thanks again for the advise..
