Screw getting my plugs changed.

I know I cant change thes plugs, and every mechanics wants like 300 to do them... this sucks.

It runs okay but I was really planning on putting these new NGK's in her. and I ask the guy to do if for me at subaru and he wants 300... I laughed...

You know, newsvx and svxcess changed mine for free after I got my car, and I have sinced learned how to work on these cars from Svxfiles. I'm about to change AmazonParrot's for free and I'd do the same for you as well...

Unfortunately, you live in KS and I'm in VA. For argument's sake my bid would be $0. We should help others to keep these cars on the road folks!

I can understand that. I'm an acct manager during the week and help friends (and friends of friends) with their cars off and on every other weekend or so. It would definitely change things if I worked on cars for a living!

Crimsonblue, if you can cook you can work on a car. You just need the proper tools, good instructions and a lot of patience.

I was wondering... What exactly has to be done to get to the other 5 plugs??
I can get to the one in the front left but I wont pull it out because someone told me you need some certain tools??

Yea I thought about just redoing my exhuast....? I wonder how much the bastards down the street would charge me.

It really isn't that hard if you have patience. Follow the how to. I also don't recommend the NGK Platnums for an SVX as they are a pain to change and these are just platnum tipped not all plat which is why they are so cheap. We have them in our race car but if you look on our site at the engine pic you'll see why I didn't mind trying them. Oh yeah, I won't be buying them again if that helps too.

FYI: I've run nothing but NGKs for the 14 years I've been driving Subarus EXCEPT for my SVX when I changed the original plugs at 90k I went with OEM since the ones I was removing looked pretty much still usable.

No plug is pure platinum. Some are sold as platinum, some as double platinum. The difference is whether just the center electrode is tipped or both the center and ground electrodes are tipped. This is also why platinum plugs are not supposed to have their gaps checked - the platinum coating is so thin that a feeler gauge can scrape through the coating - presto! you just turned your $75 set of plugs into a set of $12 plugs.
