ECUTune Stage 1....
OK!...I've installed my ECUTune Stage 1 in my SVX. I haven't placed a power-up SPST switch on the red wire, but I want to ask some questions about the unit. Am I right to understand that without the red wire powered, the ECUtune Stage 1 will merely add a few Horsepower to the low-end performance curve? What is the reference to N2O? And...what happens when the red wire is powered up? Is the "87 octane circuit" as safe as driving stock on Premium gas (with the ECUTune Stage 1 in place without the red wired powered)? Does the "87 octane circuit" also produce the increased performance given to the "Premium circuit"?.....
Please give any empirical experiences...as well as any more "facts" about the unit PLEASE... THANKS for any input about this interesting MOD! P.S. They mention clearing the Subaru Select Monitor after installing the ECUTune Stage 1! Please guide me to a how-to...as I cannot locate in the shop manuals any info on this procedure. Is it necessary to do for the unit to function? [I think I cleared the ECU before somehow by shorting a couple of wires in a harness (blue?)..located at foot level in the kick panel between the left foot and the front of the door? IS THAT WHAT THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT?]...Thanks Again!

The main thing the ECUTune stage 1 does is corrects the lean condition at lower RPM's effectively adding HP at those RPM's.
It says N2O because it's the same PCB that was used for the old Stage 2 (nitrous). I don't know of anyone who has the chip that has been using the 87 code on a consistant basis. Because of the improved fuel delivery in the 87 code over stock you will have the same, if not more, power as stock. As for clearing the ECU memory what you did was clear the codes. I would recommend leaving the battery disconnected overnight to clear the ECU memory of how to run the engine.
