Door speakers? Need crossover's?

When replacing the front door speakers do you need crossovers for the speakers? I have 2 way Kenwoods in there now and I'm planning on replacing them with some Polk components midbass speakers and using the stock tweeters. Do I need to add crossovers or are they already there with the factory system? When I installed the Kenwood 2-ways both the woofer and tweeters worked fine on them and produced sound so I'm guessing that the factory crossovers are located on the tweeters or are inline with them somewhere past the location of the door speakers.
Thanks

The stock tweeters have an inline cap and the woofer receives the full range. I would consider replacing the set while you're at it, since the stock tweeters are paper, so they're probably pretty brittle by now.

Infinity Component 6.5's will fit perfectly.

In order to get the Infinity tweeters in the dash, remove the factory tweeters from the dash. Then, remove the tweeters from the factory tweeter mounts. Next, remove the metal grille from the factory tweeter mounts.

Once the grilles are removed, the Infinity tweeters will slide right into the factory tweeter mounts. The Infinity crossover boxes fit nicely when velcroed to the ECU/TCU box and under the passenger side footwell below the glove-box.

Hope this helps!

Angrydan,
Do you have any photos of what the tweeters look like once installed?
Thanks

Here are some pictures of the Infinity Tweeters mounted in my dash:

I think these Infinity Components are some of the best sounding car audio speakers I have ever heard. The highs are crisp and clear, but not overpowering. And the mid-range 6.5s hit pretty low. I have installed a lot of car audio systems in various friend's cars, but I am most happy with the choice of equipment for my SVX.

If you are thinking about going with the Infinity Components, check E-Bay first. I got mine from a car audio guy on ebay for a fraction of the price Best Buy and Crutchfield wanted.

I hope all this helps you make an informed decision about upgrading your stereo equipment. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. I spent a lot of time getting everything installed just right in my SVX so I know a lot of little tricks.

Those look great. My interior is tan though. I wonder if they would stick out like a sore thumb and clash with the tan dash? Does anyone else have black grilled tweeters installed in a tan dash?

why not just spray paint the grills tan to match before installing them?

Do the grills come off? If not you will get paint on the speaker dome.
