They probably just didn't put enough thought into it. Kinda like Subaru did with that SVX. Remember those? The ones with the weird windows? Looked like a sports car, rode like a sports car, ran like an overweight touring car. Every option known to man, but no manual transmission. One of the greatest engines ever built, one of the worst transmissions ever built. The beauty of all-wheel-drive, the ugly of bad wheel bearings. Talk about inconsistency.

I agree that it's weird that they bothered to put power windows up front and then overlooked the back. Should just be manual all around. But that's a small speck of inconsistency compared to what the SVX displays.

True, but every vehicle is a series of compromises as well as unfulfilled goals and missed targets. The neon has it's far share of those as well. But the window thing as well as the overabundance of cheap plastic in the "premier" neon is really inexcusable. It's ok in the cheap model, but not the SRT-4. Dodge was trying to change the way people looked at a neon. I have said I give Dodge credit for making it in the first place, but that was something easily fixed that their refusal to do so points to maybe PVO is in the same trouble SVT is in. There will be no more SVT focus'. I really think the SRT-6 will be a failure. The -10 kicks, but I don't see the -6 catching on, especially in that price bracket. At least Dodge took a chance and turned out a mostly decent product. Like ford (hates admitting that!!!) GM answers with the ION RedLine that SCC calls one of the worst cars out there. I HATE those damn center guages. It makes you look right instead of forward. People drive bad enough already. Let's hope the Cobalt SS is better.

You didn't, you asked a simple question. It's landshark that must throw in chrysler digs all the time. I'm guessing he's just pissed because neons beat him in races or something. Who knows.

Gee, landshark still hasn't answered my question: How the **** is a 1997 transmission different from any other year SVX tranny? And since when does the 1997 SVX have better wheel bearings than other years?

I take his silence as the token of someone who cannot admit they are wrong.

I win.

Please do not post in my threads. You [Landshark] are not welcome, and I'm reporting this thread also. Go away. **** elsewhere, I don't appreciate your constant sarcasm.
Wonder why he hasn't responded

P.S. You still did not explain the whole manual rear window thing.

P.P.S. They have made several modifications to the tranny http://www.subarusvx.com/faq/transmission.html but ultimately all pretty much have their problems.

P.P.P.S. I win, and I wasn't even playing

I don't think the bearings are different between the production dates of 1991-1996/7.

i guess i wasn't too clear on that - what i was meaning was, my car has a smooth shifting original transmission, and original quiet wheel bearings. i am aware the bearings were not updated. the transmission was, however: http://www.drwtransmission.com/subaru_svx.htm
i remember reading about additional updates that weren't on that page, but i can't remember what they were or where i read them.

And I DO NOT think subarus are crap. I was making a parody of your blatent double standards. Basically, no car manufacturer is perfect, EVERY car EVER made will have it's ups and downs. You rip on chrysler products, basically just to try to get me pissed off, and yet you completley ignore any faults subaru has made.
wrong again. i know there are no 'perfect' car manufacturers. some are just much worse than others. if the SVX turns around and bites me in the a$$ repeatedly, i will sell it, but so far its been one of the most reliable cars i've owned. time will tell.

i've never raced a Neon. the SVX isn't a stoplight-to-stoplight drag racer, so i don't really do that. i just think Chynsler's quality control practices leave a lot to be desired. this is from personal experience, friends who've owned them, and my best friend who is a service manager at Chynsler/Plymouth West here in Pittsburgh.

I wish Rob would finish some of our discussions. Since he quit discussing does that mean that I'm the winnAr of all our discussions? What do you think Alan?
