Another Steven's Pass Trip this Sunday!

Hey guys and girls!

Troy had a great idea! How about all of us get together and do some more wild snow riding in our SVX's this Sunday? We can meet in Monroe and take off from there. Should be a great time just like last time. Anybody interested?

3. who else?

I can't do it this weekend, I'm heading up to Canada Saturday to pick up parts, I expect to arrive home a little before sunrise.

Sometime before Spring we should try a trip up 410.

Come on, you're young, you don't need sleep! Just make it a SVX marathon, go home to drop off your parts and head for the snow!

Where's 410? Is it a pass? I may have been there at some point in my life, but I'm not good with street names and stuff.

410 is the WA highway that goes from enumclaw to yakima, past Crystal Mtn. If you are looking for a spot for a picnic/camp out for a summer function, there is an historical campground (American River- it was a ski area in the 40's) on the east side of chinook pass that is available for rent from the park service. It is off the highway to the south, and is easily accessible. Well, if you drive a pickup. I will have to see if an svx can get in there without bottoming out or high centering. Just cause it is AWD doesnt make it a jeep. The road is dirt, but the forest service usually grades it so it is Ok for normal cars. I have had my mazda rx7 convertible in and out with no problem, but i am sure that some of you are more considerate with your cars....

Actually, I need to postpone the Canada trip, caught a bad cold, which means I'm also too sick for the snow trip.

Hmm, I like 410 but I'm not sure it's open in winter east of Rainier, which might make it a pain to get to if you don't live west of the mountains. It's the main drag to the Crystal ski resort, goes between Enumclaw and Rainier, then over to Yakima. There are plenty of parkinglots to play in (lots of overflow lots a mile or two before the ski area), there's a boy scout winter camp (my old hangout) on the way up and several fire service roads and a couple campsite parking lots, sometimes these are below the snow line. 410 is usually clear enough to get emergency vehicles up to Rainier without chaining up, and it often has late-season snow by the resort. I wouldn't want to take a huge group, 410 is only 2 lanes most of the way, so you want to be able to pass the slowpokes without ditching people.

So wait on 410 until I can make it.

Maybe a couple of weeks after the tech meet?
