Car won't start
a couple times in the last month the car would stall soon after driving a little ways. (ussually going up a hill). It would restart fairly easily. I had fuel filter changed, and flushed throttle body, intake and injectors. Also there have times that it would not start. and if some one tapped on the gas tank it would start! well now I'm stranded at a parking lot of a store, and it will not start. could it be a fuel pump? how do I replace it? Please help.
We have now put $4,000 in this car in the past two years of owning it (still owe a little over $1,000 on it) we cannot afford it. It's our only car for a family of 3 drivers. we may need to sell it. But I need to fix this problem ASAP. Thanks for listening. Jeff |

Re: Car won't start
Assuming it cranks, I would check the fuel pump 1st...

Re: Car won't start
I'd agree with the fuel pump diagnosis too. You could check the MAF as well, but with the 'dies going up hill' it sounds like the fuel pump. Good Luck!

Re: Car won't start
The gas tank tapping thing may just be a coincidence. I would switch out the MAF and see if that keeps it running for a while, its much easier than a fuel pump, and the MAF seems to be the number one cause of a stall and immediate restart around here.
