Spray Paint
Where do you guys get spray paint? I've got tons of scratches and crap that I want to get rid of but all the stores around here don't have Barcelona Red. I've looked at a couple of sites and it will cost me like $60 for a can of spray paint + clearcoat. Anyone shop online and know a good store?

Re: Spray Paint
I'm not an SVX expert, but I can tell you that no matter what spraypaint you get, it isn't going to match, and it's going to look worse than it did with the scratches.
Touch up (brush on) paint is better for scratches. Clay bar for fine scratches Colored wax/polish "sometimes" helps... but not always. Lastly, a high quality, thick carnauba wax can help camoflage the scratches a little. I use Mother's pure carnauba (special order only, not the crap "with cleaner" that they sell in Wal-Mart).. you can get it on eBay for $15-$20 a can.

Re: Spray Paint
+1 on it looking like hammered carp by just hosing some spray paint on it.
If you need to spray an area, you need to do a panel at a time. I reccomend getting your paint at an autobody supply house. Most will be able to custom mix your paint into a spray bomb. Last I bought cost me $30/can. Any compatible clear will work. A GOOD paint guy can match it REALLY close, but it won't be perfect. Honestly though, the touchup that looks like nail polish works best on scratches.

Re: Spray Paint
Please whatever you do DO NOT spraypaint your SVX. No matter what it will look like hell.

Just don't do it. Brushing rust under the rug, so to speak, is a bad, bad, bad idea. Have the rust fixed, and the paint re-applied correctly, if the car is worth anything at all to you. If it isn't worth doing right, then don't do anything, and trade the car. Correcting bad work is worse in some cases than no work at all. Please don't do that to an SVX... there are so few of them "in the wild". |

Re: Spray Paint
If anything use some rust converter on it untill it gets fixed right.

Re: Spray Paint
the downside to red paint, its hard to to match up thats why some insurance companies charge more for the car being red.

Re: Spray Paint
Actually red is really easy to match, it's the metallics that such.
