Lightened Crank Pulley

I'm thinking of putting on a lightened 1-piece aluminum crank pulley on when Tom puts my car back together next month so I'm curious what's out there these days.

Any recommendations?

Things to avoid? I see lots of range in price, are there important differences in quality or workmanship?

If you have a link as to where to buy one too, that would help as it seems hard to track many places down that sell them any more.

P.S. No underdrives or undersized pulleys. Just interested in stock diameter. This is more about not having the 2-piece fall apart down the line than anything - any extra hp is just a bonus.

I think Dayle sells them. I could be wrong though.

Yep, he does.

Not sure how it compares to the "name brands" like Perrin, UR, etc, or if it even matters. Looking for opinions?

Cool Re: Lightened Crank Pulley

Never understood why you want to do this - what is the advantage of changing from stock item???

Re: Lightened Crank Pulley

engine spins easier..... This is an item that you can get as cheaply or as costly as you want....

The stock pulleys are 2 piece with a rubber lining. Often the stock units seperate at the rubber and the outer ring can walk... Either off the front of the engine or into the timing covers... Both of which can cause even larger issues.

Re: Lightened Crank Pulley

I just picked up a used Perrin lightweight unit off a member on the board.

Check the classifieds because I'm sure things like this come up every once in a while.

Re: Lightened Crank Pulley

I've had my undersized pulley since 98,purchased from Teage Auto in Ashville,NC.It weighs under a pound and the only drawback is that at idle my voltage drops to a little over 12 volts.

i just got this one, have had no problems with it. had 2 stock pulleys shoot out the front of my car, kinda cool, luckily no damage was done, very worth while to replace before your car becomes a weapon.

**Deleted** Made a reference to undersized, not stock diameter.
