Like these: 17# & 17"-MAJOR improvement-even my neighbor's wife noticed it.
Also, sway bars at both ends help immesely. XT guys go nuts w/mods and then remove them at trade in time. Bars, bar ends, F&R tower bars, STi racks, Leg brakes (like mine-the worst brakes I ever felt stock), master cyl brace from a flexy firewall, coilovers(rad mod-look, I'm even sounding like a Sube teen racrer!), full exhaust and headers, computer controllers, bigger turbos/intercoolers, omg, I'm already $3k into it and just getting started!. But oh that sunroof!

I often wondered if the handling would improve if you were to fit a set of light road wheels and tires to it, as opposed to buying heavy 4x4 wheels and tires for it? It should improve the braking and it probably would improve the handling.
The Forester is nothing more than an Impreza with boxy sheetmetal, and can be made to handle like one too. Many suspension parts from the WRX and STI are a direct bolt-on... My XT is just slightly lowered, but my husband's 98 N/A is slammed on WRX struts with Prodrive lowering springs, and in the twisties it will run circles around my turbo Foz!

What can I say?

They both look cool. Nice ones.

Jeff, I know what you are on about with the servo brace. Henry's one, when you operate the brakes you can see the servo shifting in and out. No wonder the brakes have little feel!

Nice looking Gen 1 blackie.

And all you svxers-I just realized all SVXs are Gen 1. Someone somewhere was yakking about a gen 2 svx perhaps, maybe, kinda someday...it's about time.
A hybrid diesel svx with a motor at each wheel would fit the bill.

And here's what we're deprived of in the 'ol us of a: I hope we don't export ANY ZR1 vettes to NIppon....

And the new '09 XT is not 1/2 the car the 04-08s are:

And the car on my A list is this one:

That Fisker Karma is beautiful, and very eco-friendly

I know where it got it's design DNA though

The Chrysler 300M concept from 1991. Just as beautiful, but packing a Viper V10, not so eco-friendly.

I have not seen that Fisker Karma car before, and the shape is nice.

The smiling face grille is a bit of a joke though. They can hardly be serious about that.

Can they?

As with all turbos if you tweak up the boost and a few other easy adjustments you can make cheap extra hp. This is not so easy with the SVX as you know.

Plus if you compare a stick shift to an auto, then the SVX will look lame, naturally.

But I'm a fan of the Forester, my brother has a jdm 2.0 turbo, I think it makes around 260 hp [they use a bigger turbo in Japan], is manual, and it's a real sleeper. Plus it is way more practical than the SVX any way you look at it.

The SVX is a better drive, though.

Joe
Been there, done that.

I have both an SVX AND a 2004 Forester XT (Auto), and we've been to the track. Infineon holds "Wednesday Night Drags" every week, and we've taken them both to the track. Now mind you, I don't have the 4.44 in the SVX, but I don't think much could take over the 4 second difference anyway.

I'm expecting when you say "track" you don't mean a racing circuit, you probably mean standing quarter mile?

It's not a like-for-like comparison unless the SVX also has the 4.44 final drive. In terms of power to the road [or division of power, if you will] there is a world of difference between a 3.54 and a 4.44.

Even with the same 4.44 final drive I would still expect the[standard, not tweaked] XT to win a short drag race because it has more torque lower down the rev range. The 4.44 SVX would only pull ahead at speeds over 100, so it would need to be a half mile sprint or longer.

I'm sure there are calculations that would work it out exactly, but I'm guessing a 4.44 SVX would haul back 2 of those 4 seconds on the quarter. And if they kept on racing over 100/110, the SVX would rope in and pass those two seconds because of high speed drag.
