Thanks Tom, I just found a set on the other side of the country but at least I got them. Now I just have to shorten my drive shaft as I had lengthened it for the 5 speed. When you guys talk about locking the centre diff do you mean it has to be 50:50?

I decided not to cut on the rear diff mount so I used a angle grinder and ground the diff so the braket fitted. I had two reasons, the first that my bracket has taken a lot of hits in the desert so I didn't want the diff to come lose. The second I was talking to a rally guy and he mentioned that the drive axles at launch of a rally car can twist over 90 degrees. If that's true then thats a hell of a lot of strain on the diff so it needs to be bolted down well.

Okay the car is up and running have done the following jobs while I was at it.
1 Rubilt the DMS struts with breather mods,
2 Replaced boots on front axles.
3 Relaced rear wheel bearing.
4 Installed the six speed with the R180 diff and rear axles to suit.

I have still to complete the sorting out the dash and centre consol but due to the fact that I didn't extend the gear change there is going to be a bit of work sorting it out.
One thing for sure I love the gearbox with the limited slip its brilliant.

Drive axles twist 90* without breaking ?

Agreed that bracket does offer valuable for and aft support, but has no function relative to torsion or "twist", particularly in regard to the axles.

The bracket is neither here nore there, when you drive in the desert and you can DIE in the desert I just go the way I have done it. Tom I am amazed at the gear box and the R180 diff. When you considers I had a 5 speed and changed to a 6 I would never have expected it to be so different. It sure kicks ass. I do have trouble getting use to the different handling from the drive ratio and the limited slip surprised at how the car changes from under to over steer, not sure how much of this is related to the tyres I have on with the transmission combination. Have a great day guys.

I'd say you are right Trevor.

The torsion or twist that he meant would have been in the axles, what we here in Ireland call "half-shafts"

The housing that the bracket supports would not be subject to twist, but it is a good thing to locate them securely when you are out on rough roads like Tony drives, where you can die.

I am now putting the dash back in and since I removed the ash try and lighter I need to make a new cover so here it is taking shape. I need to add switches for DCCD, reverse light, possiable diving lights & thinking of a air tempreture reader for the intake as well. Given all that and the gauges I think all the space will be gone. I will cover it with the same material from the dash when I am happy I have worked out the switches.
