Fuel Injection Flush
My car needed a boost yesterday to get started, so I took it to the local shop to test the battery and see if I need a replacement (it tested "good" so I'm holding off for now).
The mechanic, however, said I had a slightly rough idle and asked if I had ever considered a fuel injection flush. He quoted me $89.99 (just for me!!!) for the flush. I said I'd take it under advisement. So...any advice? Is this worth it? Will it save on mpg and idle any smoother? Thanks!

It does increase fuel mileage, smoothes idle and restores lost performance but there are cheaper and equally effective alternatives. If that really is the issue check your fuel filter if you havent changed it, try Chevron Fuel System Cleaner because its the best, also if it is cold like it is here in Alaska dont run your gas tank past half or condensation will build up diluting your fuel with water giving you a rough start and idle so try some Heet Yellow or Red Bottle.

You may want to clean the throttle body's and iac while your at it.I don't think mine had ever been cleaned and when I took it off to clean it inside it looked like a blacktop road in there check vac lines too.

Do it yourself -- SeaFoam with a piece of vacuum line from the can of SeaFoam to the vac tap that the FPR uses (okay to disconnect the FPR while you're doing this) and then run the engine until you've used up the amount called out on the can. Then disconnect the snorkus from the TB and clean the TB out with regular carb cleaner (do not attempt to have the engine running when you do this, as it needs the airflow through the MAF...). Make sure to open the throttle plates so you can clean the inlet all the way through where the plates seat.

While this is an important thing to do every once in a while, I would say it is by no means worth $90. As previously stated, just do it yourself with a can of Seafoam and you'll be enjoying miles of smiles in no time.
