Best TIRES...?
I found another good tire for a car (my SVX)....and again it disappears...? It either went out of business...or size died...??? Well...I ran Avon Tech M500's with good success...245 45 16 (ZR)...Supposedly made by Bridgestone...?
The thing that's so disturbing is that my old Yokohamas I thot I liked so much proved to be so noisey...when I got the Avons! [They're quiet!] ...that once I replaced a rear bearing from that noise! I realized that...after I got the quiet Avons...I was considering replacing the other rear bearing (since replacing the first didn't get rid of the "bearing" noise!...ha!). Is there a quiet...inexpensive...good tracking...TIRE? Please advise me y'all.. . THANKS... BTW...I like an "oversized" tire ...but I guess I can return to 225 50 16 if u got a good one! Thanks!

Noise can come form tire wear due to a bad alignment. I have been thru this a few times. Moving the tires front to back can help figure it out. You don't need a snow tire out there Do you?

Check this tread out. There are 6 sets of these in our area and everyone likes them. They are quiet and last good too.

I had yokohama A550Vs on mine. Quiet, high performance all season. AA traction rating too.

My Bridgestone (same that come on the STi) are very nice. I've yet to hit their limit in my limited pushing. Brake amazingly which is something I didn't think the A550s did as good, fabulous in wet compared to my A540s I had prior to these. I don't think they're quite as silent as the Contis that everybody swears by but they're close! Best part was the price. I paid $79 a piece for a $150 tire rack tire. If there's still some available snap 'em up. Worth it even if they only give ya 15k which is more than fine with me as they'll be 5 years old when they have 15k.

The Bridgestones good in teh snow? The Conti-Extremes were REALLY good in the snow. Yeah they were quiet but did take a cold weather set overnight

My friend has a WRX with bridgestones on STi tires, and they are HORRIBLE in the snow. Like... you might as well have slicks.

Snow......wat...???
I live in Fresno CA...it's 100 degrees plus now through the middle of September....I don't drive in the snow..WELL, maybe once or twice to ski with my son who now likes snow boarding...but, I'm very experienced driving to ski...so, I can baby the car in mild conditions...I don't go if snowing!
In short, I need an all-season dry pavement tire. I wonder if the Continental Conti Extreme recommended would be good for me...since they seem to be chosen at least partly Bcuz of their wet/snow performance...??? Thanks..

I don't know about the prices now but here's a few I thought were decent: Falken Azenis Kuhmo Ecsta MX currently I have Toyo Proxies4 on my SVX because I'm cheap and wanted to try them out at $52/tire. They're doing decent, but I've been driving defensively of late so I don't know how far they would go. On my first SVX I had Yokohama AVS(something can't remember now) but I hated them. Expensive and crappy IMO. |
