Oh no! Not another radiator post!

Hello everyone!

This is my first post to the forum. I have been aware of the SVXWN for a while (thank you for the excellent info) and finally joined this year.

I finally decided to replace my Calsonic radiator with one from PWR, after replacing my OEM one twice!

Everything was going fine (I knew about the bottom rad hose inlet/fan shroud problem and the overflow pipe being too small) but I was not prepared to find out that the transmission hose barb to be too small. The OEM barb and hose measure out as 10mm (outer/inner) where as the new one is fitted with what seems to be about 7.5mm.

Does anyone here have any information on when Subaru changed this parameter and/or why?

Thank you in advance.

Chris

I'm confused: what are the hose internal diameters?

What hose is too big or too small & where?

Cheers!

Clarification (I hope!)

Sorry if there is any confusion.

The hose barbs for the PWR transmission cooler section came with 7.5mm OD barbs. The OEM Calsonic rad uses 10mm OD barbs. I am planning on using the transmission cooler, so I need the 10mm barbs. (my transmission fluid hose has an ID of 10mm)

My question arises from my conversation with PWR. They have sold a lot of these radiators for SVXs without anyone having a problem with the size of the transmission hose barbs. They are looking into the problem but I was wondering if it was a PWR production mistake or if Subaru did make a change in the transmission fluid line feed (10mm to 7.5mm) in the production lifetime of the car?

So, what size transmission fluid hose (ID) is being used on your SVX?

BTW: The radiator hoses fit just fine.

Problem solved

Just talked with Brandon @ PWR.

Looks like they they had a few built with the wrong size fittings.

They are sending replacements!

If you plan on buying one of these radiators from PWR, you might want them to check and make sure that it has the correct size transmission cooler fitting.
