nip-ons in the morning, sweaty in the evening

So I had my ac recharged and some o rings replaced. I now blow cold air...in the morning. What I am finding is that my ac runs great in the morning to the point of getting nip-ons.

However, in the evening, on the way home, the system doesn't quite one want to fire up. I park in a garage so the car isn't out in the sun and blazing hot. It blows out cold, feebly for a few seconds then retreats back to its old habit. I've found that if I shut the car off, then restart that initially the ac will come on for a few seconds, go up to full blast and then retreat once again then 2 minutes later slowly cycle up to where its working.

It seems that there is some logic control not working. What should I start checking?

cheers

ken

Have the pressure checked on the A/C system. You can buy a gauge from an auto parts store for it too. It sounds like it may be on the borderline of being too full, as I've experienced similar things before with A/C systems.

i hav a similar problem

i took my car in and got new freon put in. for that day, my A/C froze me but after that, it doens't get as cold

i live in AZ and it gets real hot, so i took back in to see if i had any leaks....they said its full and the pressure it good

so now my question is whats wrong with my A/C and if there is anything i can do to fix it.....or is it normal?

i have it set on auto @ 65 and i still fry in my car.....i heard from other owners that the A/C is ice cold on that setting when the temp outside is 100+

i second the code checking there are alot of various sensors that control our a/c system

code check

I guess that will be my next move. The wacky thing is that occasionally the ac works. It seems to be 15 minutes into my drive that it will kick in and work consistently for a while.

The cycle seems to be start car, blows a bit cold then goes back to normal air. I then shut down the car and restart then the ac starts up, goes full tilt within 25 seconds then shutsdown. then 10 minutes later, it will slowly notch up and then finally start blowing consistent cold air at the highest velocity.

I would think it has to be some logic control point, such as a sensor gone bad.

Thanks for everyone's input.

cheers

I got Code 13 on mine... but my a/c doesn't work at all... I have assumed its a leak... could code13 prevent it from working???

Thanks in advance.

Hope this helps

The proper pressures on a SVX AC system is 200 psi HI / 28 psi low side. Most of the cheapo gauges will go into the green zone at 35-40 PSI on the low side. At that lvl it will freeze up the condenser and warm air will blow till it thaws some and starts to cycle, it will repeat this all day. The reason it does not lock up in the morning is it is using air that is already cool. Freeze ups normally happen when outside air temp is 85 or higher.

Other possibility is they got some liquid freon is the system.

I haven't checked the pressure yet but what's curious in my scenario is that when I travel home after being parked in the relative shade of underground parking is that the condenser has not had the opportunity to freeze up yet. Right out of the box it doesn't work and then 10-15 minutes into the drive it starts to slowly crank up. I have a 50/50 shot that it will work by the time I get home and pump out so much that I have to turn it down.

cheers
