Remote Trunk Release doesn't open

Lever lifts cleanly, however latch does not unlock at rear trunk. Cancel switch is not the issue. Checked that.

Afraid something is broken in line - been using the key - but would like to fix if something small or inexpensive.

Advice / thoughts ? Ideas to check something out?

Thanks for any help.

If you take out the spare tire cover and the plastic trim around the lower latch, you should be able to see the movement of the release cable. Have someone pull on the lever while you watch to confirm that the cable is intact and releasing the latch properly. If not, then you can either get a new cable or install a trunk release solenoid and wire in a release button up front.

Thx - Finally got around to checking out the movement of the trunk release and have noticed the cancel level looked odd - it switched up and down but was not level. I played around with the catch trying to figure out how it worked and wah lah - the cancel lever was bent - not allowing the release to push it against the latching part of the lock.

Hoped it was something simple - not sure how it got bent must have been something in the trunk one day that was protruding around the lock mechanism.

Now.....on to the dash switch lights, overhead nightlights, etc...
