That's what I thought. I've already emailed the guy about it, hopefully it's nothing too serious...
I'm also going to have a look-see under there tomorrow at work... hopefully I can fix the problem myself.

Well, I found the problem...
After getting under my car, it was immediately obvious what the problem was.
Poor Alice was haemorhaging Redline Shockproof from the driver side front axle seal. After mentioning this to my mechanic, but before I was at all specific, he said that he inspected the seals beforehand, and replaced the passenger side one, but the driver side looked ok. Guess it wasn't. The car has been leaving puddles like this everywhere I go. Good thing I didn't go very far. This shot is about 3 days accumulation, and the white strip in the upper left is a short ruler that I included for scale, about 4" long. Everything else looks good to me. Nice beefy trans mount, gearbox is otherwise very clean, everything fits. Apparently the front half of my exhaust is kind of rotting though. He apparently has a source that can supply a high performance header back exhaust for about $800. I doubt this very much, but if true, I'd love to see it [on my car ].

Yeah, it's really weird stuff. It's kinda sticky and pasty when cold, but it heats up fairly quickly - you can actually feel a difference in the gearbox as the fluid heats up.

The one reason I don't like to use the stock wrx tranny mounts is that right there... The clearances of the stock exhaust are minimal to none... I bet yoyr driver's side precat pipe is tocuhing the X-member and it will make noise and vibrations once that insulation wears through
