Unhappy water pump/etc

i am in the process of having the timing belt, water pump, etc replaced. the bearings actually were melted. what are the odds that valves have been ruined? bought this car on july 17th and it's been in the shop since july 26th. (problems with ordering, not problems in finding parts)
