if the battery is less than 2 years old, i suggest this is probably an alternator problem... but if the alternator is still also under 2 years old (you installed a new OEM SVX alternator 2 years ago) so it is most probably the battery. open the bolts, is there any acid still left in it? maybe it is drained?

...diSconnect aLL + battery caBLes...

If the SVX is still running, apply the 127.5% diagnostic/labor charge to the entire bill.

Forward 50% to SofA, c/o STORMINORMAN

Cheers!~

Huh?

Good grief, a reponse has to have a minimum of ten letters now?

I think that did the trick...

The problem is back! Sometimes the engine cranks and starts, sometimes I get nothing. Had everything checked out. The alternator is good, battery is good, connections are good. The problem is still there! I noticed that it may be linked to the alarm because I see the light indicater go on when I have this problem. I don't use the alarm, would the cut-off switch still work without activating the alarm? Anyone ever have a similar experience? I thought of disconnecting the alarm but I can't find the alarm wire connected to the battery, is this possible? The only other thing I could think of is the starter going bad, or a bad relay to the starter. How do I check this?

Sorry to jump off the subject: While we are talking about Don't do it's... This is sort of a different question, but you Guys / Galls seemed to be informed on the electrical of a car. I also heard that you can't check for spark by holding a plug wire near a ground and watch the spark jump. I saw a guy do it on a Ford Mustang and later he told me that he blew something. I know we can't do it on the SVX because of the Coil on plug set up but is that true on the modern car. We did it all the time in the 70's

Have you installed a starter relay?

When it's acting up you should be able to short the terminals on the starter to start the car. If so then adding a relay to do this would solve the problem.

Searching for "starter relay" will find several articles on the subject.

someonje had a starting problem and said that it was the ignition switch that it was old and sometimes it wasn't doing the connection.... when it doesn't start have use check the battery to make sure is charge???. does your dash turn on when turning ignition switch on??? or maybe a bad started. mine sometime does that but because of a bad conection due to the 5 speed swap that i already fixed...

Just turn on the headlights when you try to start the car. If they are bright and don't dim when you hit the starter chances are real good that your battery is o.k.

I would guess that he was pulling the wires for a reason. Whatever 'blew' was probably what he was looking for in the first place. We still pull wires occasionally and I have yet to see any damage occur. It would be kind of silly to engineer a system that toasted itself if a plug wire fell off while driving.
