before you give it up, have you checked for codes. Was there any warning - did it happen while driving or when you first started out for the day from home/work. Also, here's a list of possible problems (assuming engine revs, but no movement).

Strainer (internal filter) plugged
Duty solenoid A failed
Control valve
Drive pinion broken
Hypoid gear
Axle shaft
Differential gear
Oil pump
Input shaft
Output shaft
Planetary gear
Drive plate
ATF level too low

my went not too long ago in my barcelona and it flared a little. then the flare got worse. eventually it lost 4th gear then started to loose 3rd all in 2 days. for it to crap out instantaiously sounds fishy

I wonder if the problem could be computer related. I'm no tranny expert at all but i think when tranny's go out they show signs of wear and get worse.

No go.

Did you check the ATF level and colour, If it smells toasted, it probabley is. If not, it could be low fluid level or blocked strainer in the pan.

Harvey.
