I got a '74 MGB Convertible
Well, my luck finally changed today after my dad telling me that im getting a new project car, a 1974 MGB convertible. Only problem is Its all in peices. It was too good of a deal to pass this car up, so i got it, for a VERY nice price, you cant even buy candy for the price i got it for. Since I have never ever put a car together, since im only 17, i do consider that i can do this. Now, since everyone restores these, how hard is it, and is there like a manual out there naming all the parts, and "how to" put together. Everything is new on this car, it just needs putting together, and paint.

Is it a miget? There should be a Haynes or Chilton out there for. It won't give you step by step instructions on reasembly but it should give you enough to figure it out.

Parts are more plentiful and easier to get when the MGB was new. I'm guessing it is a true 74 so you don't have the big black bumpers which started in 74 1/2. Get yourself a subscription to classic motor sports (old British Car Mag). They'll have plenty of parts ads. You can get the factory service manuals and MGB resto books. Definately do it. You'll save that much in doing it right! Congrats on the Miata killer.

Its coming with a shop manual, and i ordered like 5 different resto books. I swear, this is gonna be a fun project. I just need to paint it, and the only thing i need to put together is the front end and interior.

What you need is a friendly British SVX and MGB owner to help you source info. Now where would you find one of those ??
There is an Official MG shop manual, but it's quite hard to come by and quite difficult to follow, so if you have it, that's great. There is a regular Haynes type shop manual for the MGB, and there's a restoration manual by a guy called Lindsay Porter, also published by Haynes. If all the welding has been done (floors, A-posts, sills, chassis legs etc) then most of the rest will be reassembly. There are lots of newly developed parts (like composite rear springs, stainless fuel tanks, front suspension kits, brake upgrades, uprated heaters !!) to improve the everyday performance. Many people knock the old british cars, but they are nice and simple, there are many parts suppliers world-wide and they're not that bad when looked after properly.

Go to www.the-roadster-factory.com
And Moss Motors There are many books about restoring these at any bookstore. TRF (the roadster factory) is where my dad gets all of his Triumph parts. They are great and have even given him advice on occasion.

When I had my Spitfire, THIS was the best place I found for parts:
