I am reading the need for new o2 sensors. I would like to know which are the cheapest to use. can I use 3 wire universals? also if i can what brand should I use.

The jury is still out on universals, the answer is you shouldn't, but if you send Jsvxstyle a PM he can get you some good Bosch or NGK factory ones for a good deal.
I unfortunately just installed Bosch Universal 3 wires, but I still have an emission issue. My mech installed some other 3 wire universals and ran the sensor diags, and the diags failed, so he put in the bosch universals.

They cost me $100CAN each, but I'm still not sure if I would recommend them.

I wish people would stop thinking 'cheap' and start thinking 'right.' Use the OEM sensors. This isnt a geo, folks.

When dealing with sensetive electronic sensors its a good idea to stay with the oem releases. If anything by buying generic sensors you can be creating a mismatch of unmeasureable, or undiagnosable problems down the line(like a car that you can never daignose a problem with..,lemon) For instance a problem with the O2's can trigger problems in ANY area of the emmisions system, invalid EGR valve readings or vice versa a bad EGR can trip the O2's to read a false code.
. The first one(most likely) worked for 100k miles, that is over its expected life(70k). just save up and get the right ones. phil

Exactly, I know jsvxstyle gan get you a deal, send him a PM.
He told me not to use the universals, and as you can see, others agree. I think the Subaruparts.com has them???
