Fuel Filter choice
HI everyone
i ve had my fuel filter changed about 16,000 kms ago but now i start thinking its dirty again and want to change it. But have doubts that i installed the proper one before. So 1) Anyone installed not subaru fuel filter and what was it? 2) Anyone had wrong filter installed and what were the problems? 3) Are Legacy and SVX filters the same? i have an aftermarket filter. not sure about the brand, maybe Ryco, part number was FI-172 which was the big metal filter. the one before was tiny plastic one. My friend has same filter as i do in his legacy and it still goes without problems (my car stalls and idles rough). Fuel pump died though, but i think it was not due to wrong fuel filter... thx |

According to the Ryco NZ site the Ryco filter for the SVX is Z348 and is the same as Subaru Legacy/Forester/Impreza models.
Subaru.parts.com shows the filter as the same for Impreza and SVX. (US$20.00) However, the JDM Subaru Parts List shows the SVX filter as different from other Subaru models. (US$50.00 ) Check out the Ryco NZ site: http://www.ryco.co.nz (Use the 'Search' link, then the 'Application Search')

The fuel filters sold through US Subaru dealers are made in the states by purolator. They are different from the factory SVX fuel filter. The factory filter is black in color and significantly smaller than the US sourced one which is larger, silver, and has "SUBARU" printed on it.
