Installing Block Heater
Hey, Just got a block heater for this beast after it repeatedly froze on me in -30 below (piece of crap eh? ) Problem being I don't know where to install it. Where would I find the '36mm core plug' to plug this bad boy in?

Block Heater
Hi James, Well, 36mm is about 1.5 inchs or an inch and a half. When I was in Alaska we used these heaters that went in the lower radiator hose. This heated the water which was then circulated by convection. The ID of a radiator hose is probably in that 36mm area. There were also "head bolt heaters" and heaters that replaced the oil dipstick. It doesn;t sound like what you have is the latter two. If its the first, drain out the anti-freeze. Cut the appropriate width of hose out of the existing radiator hose . Slide in the two cut ends on to the heater and clamp them down. You will need an extra hose clamp. Refill the cooling system and plug in the short cord and electrical plug into an extension cord. after a little while you should hear some percolating noise that indicates it is working. I hope this helps, if you have that kind of heater. You also might want to use a new hose if it's been four years or more since you or the PO replaced hoses. Take care, BOBB

I have also seen a heater that is a magnet and is stuck to the bottom of the pan.

Here's a pic I took during the 5 speed swap:
http://dcss.dyn.dhs.org/pics/5speed/pages/IM002326.html You will see the block heater indicated by the red plug. It's between the oil pan and the driver's side exhaust manifold.
