saabaru

ha, a buddy ofmine sent this to me. thought you all would like it/

GM being the resourceful automaker it is releases the SAAB 9-2X sports compact so that this Swedish car maker can compete in a growing class of cars in the American market. Fitting it comes with All-Wheel drive to handle Sweden's weather. Powered by a 2.5L H-4 or 2.0L Aero (turbo) H-4 engine. Packaged as a station wagon type body it works well with the active lifestyle of today's younger buyer. I suggest you go take a look at it on SAAB's website, then got to Subaru's website and look at the 2.5RS and WRX wagons, same cars. SAAB's work with Fuji Heavy Industries is not so much team development as it is badge engineering. Oh yeah, SAAB even neglected to change the dash to look different than Subaru's design, they did alter the climate control and transmission shifter, but didn't move the key to the console

Holy Crap, it is a WRX isn't it.....I like it. I kinda like the Saab front end a bit more tho.

Wait, I could just go buy a WRX couldn't I. That is if I had the money......

I have to say it's better looking than the wrx. Hopefully Saab will make it available with leather too.

I thought the conversation last year was merely speculating what it would look like. I was just showing what it really is now. I just think it is funny how it is just a Subaru with some new badges. You would think that the joint venture would involve aspectsfrom both cars. I guess having GM involved would bastardize any project.

You would think that, until you saw how quickly the car was coming to market.

Subaru doesn't seem to be meshing with GM in terms of culture and technology, and that's fine by me. If a rebadged WRX sold as a Saab means that Subaru isn't compromised by GM's platform whoring, that's fine by me. I really liked older Saabs, but I've mourned the loss already.

Calm down, everybody. We can all celebrate the dissolution of the joint Subaru-GM wagon venture.

Maybe they'll come out with some sort of SPG/STI wagon. That'd be neat, if i was in the market for a 30k dollar car my ideal vehicle would be an sti wagon.
