u joints?!?
Had a u joint go out yesterday, the guy at the shop tells me that it can not be replaced in an svx driveshaft and that i'll have to buy a new driveshaft (800 bones). He says the driveshaft is fine but they have no way of getting the bad u-joint out. Any body have any experience with this. If i do have to buy a driveshaft, I can buy a colemann alum. one for a lot less than 800 bucks.

There is this listing which may be worth checking out.

Most standard universal joints have either an internal snap rings that sits inside the ears of a yoke or flange and sits into a groove that has been cut into the universal joint cup. The other design is external snap rings they sit in grooves that have been machined inside the ears of the yokes and flanges. Staked-In references the manner of how the universal joints are held into the yokes & flanges because the metal of the yoke & flange is acually forced over the edges of the univesal joint cap to hold it in position. This peened over material is removed and a U-Joint with internal snap rings is used to service the driveshaft - another engineering challenge solved by Rockford Driveline Products. "

rockford Driveline
Got the Rockford Driveline peice on the way. I'll write back and tell you all if how it works. Could be an easy solution to a $400+ fix.

cost...
The u-joint cost 29 bucks with shipping. I did the work myself since I have a press and just about everything else a well prepared racer would need. I don't suggest doing this with out a press, the suby joints were a pain in the arse to get out.
