Is it supposed to wobble? (Rotor)
I was changing my front brake pads today, and when I took off the front right wheel, the rotor was able to move in and out on the hub. Then when I took off the other (left) front wheel, that rotor had no movement at all in and out. Both rotors spun around just fine, but it was the movement in and out of the right front rotor that worries me.
Is this normal? Or are both rotors supposed to move like this and maybe the one that isn't moving is becuz it's rusted to the hub?.?.? If I were to remove the entire caliper mechanism, what actually is holding the rotor on? Any information is appreciated. -SVXJoe |

You answered your own question. The wheel traps the rotor in place.

But why?
I figured that....but the one rotor on the left hub doesn't slide in and out at all with the wheel off..... could this be rust? No signs of excessive rust.
I tried taping from the inside of the rotor to move it out and it didn't budge. Also....I noticed that the rubber boot on the outside of the piston has deteriorated badly...brakes work fine...no sign of fluid leakage....do you recommend replacing entire caliper? |

I would sugest getting the calipers rebuilt with new seals and such..it isnt a hard job...
|

I bought the seal kit in my last order. Hopefully, it's as easy as you say. Any friendly advice on the job?
