Can anyone explain the SVX's passive 4ws system?

Seriously, you can perform a search on this subject, it goes by many names, passive AWS, NOT AWS, 4WS, etc. A large disagreement over this subject is available. My opinion.....well it's NOT steering in the traditional sense, specifically, there is no tie rod to 'steer' each wheel, but the rear wheels DO in fact toe in and out slightly with differing loads. Any arguments with that will be delt with swiftly. Is that steering? In some minds, yes and others no. You can look at the suspension in detail an make your own opinion. I'll have to go get that nice diagram of the rear end and post it someday. Nowhere in my official Subaru literature does it mention 4WS or AWS, so where did you hear such terms?

it may not actually steer in the traditional sense but it does......
seem to aid or assist in steering. that was a pretty good description, that was my first time reading that. it didnt really appear to be an ad more like a honest description of what is occuring based on their observations or design. just my opinion.

It IS steering... if you think you can steer your front wheels by removing the rack and using a lever to chage the toe in/out.
If you take steering to mean "cause change in direction" then the answer might be yes. No, I take that back. It is not steering at all-- the toe chage does not occur until AFTER the car has started to turn. The change in suspension geometery is a result of steering, the change in toe does not cause steering.
