You could leave the phone in the car, and then get on the first computer or friend's BB you can find.

I have a handy app on my phone that not only sends its location but allows me to log in and shut it down for anywhere.

now this isn't need if you get a GPS device.. triangulate is only for cell towers IIRC.. GPS uses satellites in the sky to do this and is usually accurate. If your set on a phone being able to do this make sure it is a GPS enabled one.

Well this is unpractical... I need something more permanent.

Well... it is not like I need this system I am looking for NOW. I am still waiting Garmin's reply, I never knew they had a forum. Let me go there and ask around. Will update you...
