turbo...help

ok, so i have finally set my mind to turbo my car...i think

is it worth the money to tubro the svx or just a waste?

i like to go the strip and i figured if i bout a STI i'll spend roughly 15k....with the same amount of money i can build the svx with turbo, 6mt, and awd. so i asked myself if my svx was built and cost the same as an STI, what would i rather drive. i said svx cause its more rare....

so, can anyone tell me prices and parts for a turbo build? ive looked through the turbo thread and not many prices were shown....

Re: turbo...help

You need to do a bit more research. For a proper turbo build you will not only need the turbo system (which has to be fully custom built because there is no kit for the SVX), you'll need to build the engine to take the boost (forged low compression pistons, rods, head work, etc), and figure out some engine management (Hydra Nemesis in the $1500 range). As you said the 6MT swap as well, which typically runs $5500+. Not saying it's a waste to turbo an SVX, it has been done successfully, but it's not an easy road.

Re: turbo...help

A performance tcu and performance valve body will take care of the transmission needs.

The aggressive version of stage 2 flex software can run e85 and will take care of the engine management and aftercooling needs.

A car with that is ready for a pair of garrett gt2259 turbos--one mounted under each cyllinder head directly on new exhaust manifolds.

Re: turbo...help

Phast seems to be doing it up on a stock motor with the tun LANs talking about. If my car had a running motor when I got it I'd have probably gone that route too.

Re: turbo...help

Actually phil is still running 2v7. The "aggressive" version which I will soon be replacing 2v7 with should prove even/much better. It starts all in on the timing instead of relying on the knock sensors to learn in timing.

Re: turbo...help

the normal 2V7 works very good as well and I had a lot of fun with it. I drove for 5000kms on my setup (everything still looks brand new haha) and had no issues except for a head gasket which was already on the way out anyways.

The car is a BLAST at 8psi on a Garret 60-1 and with the 2v7 my AFR was high 10s to low 11s. ECUtune really makes a great product.
