Steering wheel extender option? Tight Fit!!

I'm having difficulty getting comfortable in terms of right leg, and knee room.
Even in the lowest seat height, and the highest steering wheel adjustment, I only have 1/2 " between my knee, and the dashboard area. It's even difficult to use the break. VERY TIGHT.I'm 6'2" Not that tall really.
Is it possible to make the steering post longer so that I can bring it closer to my chest. Or can it be secured in the fully raised height position.
I realize that it would block speedo view. Any thing at all possible?
Thanks

Have you tried the telescopic adjustment already?

Yes, Thanks. It's fully extended.
3 more inches would be perfect.

3? Dang! I did the WRX steering wheel swap, and it made a world of difference. I'm 6'2", as well.

3 inchs? hmm... I'm not a pro on this by any means, but I would be very worried about this type of modification. Air bags are of course designed with a specific distance in mind. If you alter that distance so dramaticly, it could pose a very real and serious health hazard.

Perhaps a smaller diameter wheel is more the direction you should take?

You're probably right about the air bag issue.
Never thought about a smaller wheel. I'll ask around.
Thanks

Wow!
Glad to hear that I'm not just a complainer on the comfort issue. I'll look into the swap. Great info.
Thanks

You can also adjust the height of the wheel. Most people don't know at first but there is a lever under the column in the middle that adjusts the height of the wheel... See if that works out for ya

Hi Tom,
If you mean using one of the 2 levers, I've done it.
How do you do it. Aren't you 6' 3" or so?

Re: Steering wheel extender option? Tight Fit!!

ahh... no, not one of 2 levers. one of THREE!

1: Telescopes towards you
2:quick releases to to fully up position
3: Fine tunes the height.

The one you did not realize was there, is on the underside. I hope this solves your problem.

Longer arms?

I would think that with such long legs would bring proportionate long arms. Moving the seat back to accomidate your legs, typically you would have the arm length to reach the steering wheel comfortably. Do you have the seat in a more upright position, or are you reclined? If you sit up strait you'd be closer to the wheel.

Actually I am 6'5" and the use of all 3 instead of just the two makes it easy to fit On the bottom center of the column you will find the 3rd lever to control the height.. It is recessed into it a little but you can find it

Re: Steering wheel extender option? Tight Fit!!

There is also a fourth lever... it's called "Any lever"... it is actually hidden inside teh steering column... and what you have to do is enter a secret code via your blinkers and such...

It's L+L+R+L+Horn+R+L+L+R+High beams

The fourth lever unlocks some mazn stuff!

I've tried every possible position to no avail.
Tom just told me about a 3rd lever. I did not know about this. We shall see.
Thanks

I don't have the car close by, but I will search for it. Oh, please let it work out.
Thanks
