WANTED: Late 90's Legacy 5 MT DRIVESHAFT

That's right guys, I am looking for a driveshaft from a late 90's, 5 speed Subaru Legacy to throw into my SVX. The one that is in there now is the stock SVX one with the Smallcar.com aluminum spacer needed to make it work with a 5 MT conversion... If anyone knows of where I can find a driveshaft from a 1997+ Legacy or Outback, please let me know!

Thanks!!

~ Chris

Well, I've found a company down here that will build me a one piece Aluminum Driveshaft (that weighs 1/2 the stocker) for about $450... I guess this means that I'll have my stock driveshaft forsale to anyone who needs one

Yes I am... The yokes are too small to support the angles... IE it will vibrate like a ***** at highway speeds.

Alright, so I found a 1998 Legacy driveshaft at a junk yard only 14 miles away from here...

QUESTION though... When looking through the posts about using one of these driveshafts, I have seen that they need to be "modified"... How exactly??

The dust cup on the shaft should be completely removed... There are two tack welds that hold it on... Grind these welds down enough to pull the cup off

Ya know... I almost couldn't be bothered with any more modifying... I love working on cars and all, but I only like doing it when there isn't consequences that leave things out of my hands... Like working in my apartment parking lot (which is sloped), or doing jobs with ONLY a 154 piece tool set... Other than that, I love turning wrenches...

I am going to go check this driveshaft out... Huck thinks that some of the driveshafts simply bolt right up with no modification what so ever... If this is the case then I'll get the junk yard one... If it requires work, and therefore modification, and STRESS on my part then forget it... School has me too stressed at the moment to worry about something else...

In that case I'd have to get one from you Tom... It'd probably be better in the long run too because I wouldn't have a spare driveshaft sitting around in the living room, which would piss off my roommates...
