He said it would most likely have to take radiator out, I guess I have a second question, how difficult is it to get timing right and all that good stuff. He said he could do it but was more afraid of getting timing right. And yes I would be replacing the belts while in there . And Thanks for the replys and congratz on 11k post Tom.

timing is easy... there are marks on the belts, pullies, and the plastic housings... Kinda hard to **** up

You can do it w/o taking the radiator out... just take the fans off and there is plenty of room

O.k that might help me and my wallet. There are basic marks on it I take it nothing confusing. I know this may sound stupid but I am able to get the Driver fan off but the passenger is a different story. Any idea the cost of the pully I descriped? I guess Subaruparts.com is the place to look?

Just go on Ebay and get the timing belt&idler set... This way all the idlers and tensioners are new and you can get the timing belt while you are at it.

Yes, they are clearly marked. Go out and spend $30 on a Haynes/Chilton manual for 85-96 subaru coupes sedans, and wagons

k everything changed and I will post pic's of how close those pullys came to completely breaking. Its all good except my idle moves on me in between 500-1000 RPM it doesnt do it constiently but will sit at 750 go up then to about 1000 then down to 750 and sometimes down to 500 Did we mess something up or what ?

tensioner pulley... BTW you hunting idle could be a vacuum leak or you may have your belt a tooth off... Are you sure you got the timing just right??

o.k sorry I have more time to explain now, Well basically it will sit at 750 sometimes for a bit then it will go up a little bit, down a little but not all the way up to 1000 or all the way down to 500 but sometimes it will. Like I said sometimes it will sit fine. O and after doing this my exhaust seems a little deeper sounding. I know thats kinda weird but to me It does sound deeper. And advice on what might be the problem, no check engine light no power light .

double check the belt timing... Just remove the end covers and make sure the cam alignment marks match the marks on the back covers.

I know when the AC is on in mine it would jump up like that every 5 seconds or so when the compressor kicked in. Only happens at idle though.

Alright I am going to have to do that tomorrow, I will double check that but I think if we check that again it will be fine and the idle thing will stop.
